Japanese
  • In line with our EN 15038 Quality Management in Translation certificate, as soon as your text reaches us we categorize it by subject and choose the Japanese translator with the most appropriate field of specialisation.
  • The decision of whether Bungo or Kögo Japanese will be used in the translation is upto the client.
  • The project is sent to a certified Japanese translator with at least ten years of experience and native-speaker level of Japanese. Graphical work is done to preserve the document's format.
  • We research the subject area of your document and create a terminology using our database and pool of specialist dictionaries. By the time the preparation phase is complete we have created a “company terminology” unique to your company which guarantees error-free translations written in the same ‘voice’.

Language Information - Japanese

Japanese
Philological information about Japanese was prepared by the Translation Studies division of Dijital Tercüme.

Japanese is the official language of Japan. Standard acceptable forms are known as hyöjungo, standard Japanese, or kyötsugo. It is used as the common language all over Japan. Hyöjungo is taught in schools, and is used on television and in official communications. Because standard written Japanese was different to the spoken language, until around the 1900s Bungo was the standard method of writing Japanese. However, after that period, the effect of kögo gradually increased and the two methods were used together until the 1940s. Because it relied on the older styles, Bungo is a form which is important to know in the fields of history, literature and law. However, as a more practical and widespread from, Kögo is today the main method in spoken and written Japanese. If you are working in trade and speak Japanese with them, this will bring you great advantages, because the Japanese like to speak with foreigners in their own language.
When examined in structural terms, Japanese is an agglutinative language. Outside of Japan, Japanese was widespread especially before and during the Second World War, when Japan occupied Korea, Taiwan and areas of the Chinese continent as well as various Pacific islands and forced the inhabitants of these countries to learn Japanese. Japanese immigrant communities (in Brazil, Peru, Argentina, Australia, especially Sydney, Brisbane and Melbourne, the USA and the Philippines), and 5% of residents in Hawaii speak Japanese. Today, due to increased commercial relations, a few million non-Japanese people are estimated to have learned the language.
