Philological information about Arabic was prepared by the Translation Studies division of Dijital Tercüme.

According to current research, the Arab language, otherwise known as Arabic, is considered a “northern language which continues to be used”. Arabic is part of the Semitic Arab language family. Arabic is used by minorities in Turkey and Iran, and is spoken by a large part of the population of the Arab Peninsula and North Africa. Arabic is either an official language or one of the languages spoken in Algeria, Afghanistan, Bahrain, Chad, the Comoro Islands, Djibouti, Egypt, Ethiopia, the Gaza Strip, Iran, Iraq, Israel, Jordan, Kuwait, Lebanon, Libya, Mauritania, Morocco, Oman, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, Somalia, Sudan, Syria, Tunisia, the United Arab Emirates, the West Bank, the Western Sahara, and Yemen.
In order to be able to translate / interpret in Arabic, it is not enough to simply memorise the letters of the alphabet, know how they conjoin or study the meanings of words. This is basically just Arabic 101, an entry. For advanced knowledge on Arabic, it is not enough to only be able to read the letters. You also need a rich cultural heritage and background. In particular, while examining historical works and bringing them into another language through translation / interpreting, translators must have acquired a sufficient vocabulary and become acquianted to Arabic culture, its manners and the language’s structure.
