Translation Process - Latvian
- Your Latvian/Lettish texts are categorized according to their subject matter and area of expertise during the coordination phase of translation/interpreting.
- The texts are then referred to a translator who is an expert; the text is read and the subject is researched so that an accurate translation terminology is constructed using international online or written dictionaries.
- Finally, the translation is completed and delivered to the editors. After that, it is initially checked in regards to cohesion and translation quality by our editors who hold translator certificates of oath in the notaries of theTurkish Republic. During the proofreading phase, orthography and indexicality is reviewed according to Latvian alphabet/grammar (in translations from Turkish to Latvian) or Turkish alphabet/grammar (in translations from Latvian to Turkish).
- In translations/interpreting from Turkish to Latvian, the target text is prepared in the Latvian alphabet and presented in a format that would be approved by Latvian official authorities.

Philological information on "Latvian" was prepared by the translation studies division of Dijital Tercüme.
Latvian, or in other words Lettish, is the official language of the Northern European country Latvia. It is also spoken in Latvia's neighboring countries: Estonia in the north, Lithuania in the south, Russian Federation and Belarus in the east. It belongs to the Baltic languages branch of the Indo-European language family. 1.4 million people speak Latvian as a native language, and 1-1.5 million speak it as a foreign language. In total it is spoken by 3.2 million people. Originally it is only related to the Lithuanian language, with which it also shares historical associations. According to philologists, etymologically it is also related to the now extinct language of Prussian.
Russian is commonly used in Latvia, where almost half of the population is Russian. Latvian language uses a 33 letter alphabet. Latvian is the official language of Latvia.
